Robert E. Knox Scout Reservation

Scouts BSA Summer Camp

Seven miles of shoreline, a lakefront dining hall, and one of the strongest shooting sports programs in the Southeast

Located along the Savannah River and 71,000 acres of Clarks Hill Lake, Robert E. Knox Scout Reservation offers a one-of-a-kind camping experience on 535 acres. Its seven miles of shoreline distinguish it from other camps in the region. It is for this reason and others — a temperate climate with cool nights, an exceptional staff, and innovative programs — that Knox is a destination for so many Troops, Crews, and Ships.

Camp Weeks

Week 1 June 7 – 13
Week 2 June 14 – 20

The Program

New Programs

The new Knox Aquatics Adventure has Scouts camping on Survivor Island and exploring our other four islands during the day. A portable rock wall is up for free-time fun in the afternoons, and Advanced Archery has a brand new course.

First Year Scouts

Alongside the Swimming and First Aid merit badges, Scouts in the Jimmie Dyess First Year Program are guided through fundamental Scout skills, covering many early rank requirements from Tenderfoot to First Class at a newly dedicated site on camp.

Older Scout Programs

Beyond the Trail to Eagle merit badges, older Scouts can take on:

  • Mile Swim
  • Knox Aquatics Adventure
  • BSA Pistol Safety and Marksmanship
  • Advanced Archery
  • Iron Scout competition
  • Survivor Island Wilderness Survival
  • Advanced Water Sports

Facilities

Recent years have brought the Rodger W. Giles Dining Hall, Sewell Admin Center, camp office, trading post, and medical lodge. Scouts eat in a 6,000 square-foot air-conditioned dining hall with one of the best lake views on camp.

A new parade field and a new ecology building with lake access are complete. An aquatics center, mountain biking facility, and pistol range are on the way.

Afternoon & Twilight Adventures

Afternoons bring geocaching and orienteering, the portable rock wall with three courses, mountain biking with your Troop, swimming, shooting sports, disc golf on the nine-hole course, fishing, ping pong, and chess.

Evenings bring an Astronomy Star Party, Karaoke Glow Party, BSA Trivia Night with prizes, and the Bob White Carnival.

Adult Leader Programs

Leaders can earn IOLS certification, Safe Swim Defense, Safety Afloat, Paddle Craft Safety, Swimming & Water Rescue, and begin Wilderness First Aid.

If you would rather have adventure, take on the Scoutmaster Challenge or Scoutmaster Shoot — then decompress on the Scoutmaster porch with fresh coffee, tea, and snacks.

Program Areas

Aquatics

Swimming, boating, the Mile Swim, and the Knox Aquatics Adventure across seven miles of Clarks Hill shoreline.

Shooting Sports

Rifle, shotgun, archery, cowboy action, and BSA pistol — one of the strongest programs in the Southeast.
